Achieving High Precision Laparoscopic Manipulation through Adaptive Force Control
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, we present a new solution to laparoscopic manipulation based on forcefeedback control. This method allows us to both explicitely control the forces applied to the patient through the trocar and to precisely control the position of the surgical instrument. It does not require any geometrical model of the operative environment nor any fine robot base placement prior to the instrument insertion. Different adaptive control strategies involving different kinds of sensory equipments are proposed. These strategies are experimentally validated on a laboratory apparatus. An experiment is also presented where a laparoscope held by the robot’s arm tracks a target through visual servoing.

Design of an Adaptive Fuzzy Estimator for Force/Position Tracking in Robot Manipulators
This paper presents a stable new algorithm for force/position control in robot manipulators. In this algorithm, position vectors are measured by sensors and then used in the control law. Since using force sensor has some issues such as high costs and technical problems, an approach is presented to overcome these issues. In this respect, force sensor is replaced by an adaptive fuzzy estimator to...

Robotic telesurgery is a promising application of robotics to medicine, aiming to enhance the dexterity and sensation of minimally invasive surgery through millimeter-scale manipulators under control of the surgeon. With appropriate communication links, it would also be possible to perform remote surgery for care in rural areas where specialty care is unavailable, or to provide emergency care e...
متن کاملHaptic Feedback Enhancement Through Adaptive Force Scaling: Theory and Experiment
We report the development, implementation, and evaluation of a novel application of robot force control called position based force scaling. Force scaling employs position based force control algorithms to augment human haptic feedback during human-robot co-manipulation tasks. We report the first results in the implementation of asymptotically exact force scaling, as well as the first results i...
متن کاملProbe-Based Micro-Scale Manipulation and Assembly Using Force Feedback
Repeatable manipulation and assembly of micro-scale components is a critical capability for future developments in opto-electronics, hybrid microelectromechanical systems, and the integration of nano-scale devices into larger systems. This paper focuses on one particular part of this problem; the manipulation and assembly of microspheres using a single probe with force feedback. A sharp probe c...
